Position Summary:

The Grower I is responsible for the care of the crops being assigned by his/her supervisor ensuring that crops will finish on time and according to internal harvest specifications. This role will oversee crops grown in the Half Moon Bay area. The Grower I should adhere to established best practices and strategies to ensure success, which is measured via specific and defined objectives related to quality, crop timing and yield.

 

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Responsible for record keeping associated with assigned crops in all areas of harvesting as assigned by manager.
  • Responsible for water, fertility, soil, pest disease, crop timing, scheduling and planning management for assigned crops.
  • Manage quality control for assigned crops to ensure crops specifications are being met on a timely manner.
  • Liaison between Horticulture Department and Operations Department to ensure efficient communication regarding labor deployment efficiencies.
  • Report and communicate any problems associated with assigned crops to grower manager and other pertinent functions.
  • Effectively lead and supervise sprayers and irrigators by providing proper training, following safety procedures and taking disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Responsible for overseeing greenhouse daily maintenance, including a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work responsibly at all times. Report any hazardous conditions to department head.
  • This position works on a rotational schedule with other Growers to cover weekend work.
  • Perform any other related or assigned duties as required or assigned.

 

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or Biological Sciences required.
  • 1year minimum pertinent work experience in managing greenhouses, crop trials and related fields required.
  • Must be capable of managing up to 3 employees; on the job training will be provided.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and eligibility for company auto insurance required.
  • Ability to work successfully with all levels of management.
  • CA Private Applicator certification preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close distance and color vision.

Job Summary:

The HR Director performs a variety of administrative, technical, and professional work in analyzing and administering the activities of the human resources department. Oversees the RFI staffing and employment function; delivers learning and development programs to all employees; communicates information about health and welfare benefits programs; ensures compliance with all employment laws and regulations. Manages Workers’ Compensation claims. Manages and provides back-up to the Human Resources Representative in database administration and weekly payroll preparation. Conducts periodic employee events.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Oversee and actively engage in RFI employment process.  Develop new job opportunities with leadership team, plan recruitment strategy with Senior Recruiter to bring in new talent.
  • Handle employee questions and resolve work-related problems.
  • Manage proactive and reactive employee relations activities.
  • Maintain employment, Workers Compensation, benefits, and other employee records.
  • Serve as the lead for all 401(k) and benefits administration responsibilities (in coordination with our third-party administrators).
  • Create statistical reports regarding employment cycles, training, etc.
  • Represent RFI at all employment-related hearings and investigations.
  • Develop legally compliant RFI job descriptions.  Evaluate, classify, and maintain updated job descriptions for all employees.
  • Perform compensation analysis using compensation surveys; update and maintain RFI pay grade matrix.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation with Human Resources Representative. Conduct and compile data from employee exit interviews. 
  • Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures.
  • Deliver compliance employee trainings and prepared employee development.
  • As a team, carry out periodic company events.
  • Responsible for internal and external business communication.

 

Essentials:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or closed related field required
  • Human Resources senior professional or management certification from accredited organization necessary
  • Must have 7 years progressive human resources business experience
  • 5 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication also required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems (i.e. ADP, Ultimate Software, etc.)
  • Valid CA driver’s license
  • Must maintain eligibility for company vehicle insurance
  • Ability to travel if needed, in California

Job Summary:

The Machine Operator has direct oversight and responsibility for handling machinery as well as maintaining accurate records of assigned tasks pertinent to the assigned machine and the routine maintenance of the machines Additionally, the Machine Operator is responsible to help supervisor to double check quality standards to make sure activities are preformed effectively and efficiently.

    • Bale Buster Machines

  • Follow specific machine operating procedures as instructed and help develop Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Partner with department head and crew leads to comply with the crop production standards (quality, pot size, crop size, etc.) as defined and updated as often as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production and efficiency records as required.
  • Set up machine and any attachments appropriate for the machine, crop and specification as defined in specific Operation/Machine Procedure.
  • Ensure all machinery and attachments are functioning appropriately at all times.
  • Follow daily setup and shutdown procedures to ensure a clean, well-functioning operation for the following shift. Dispense of unused crops.
  • Inspect machine on a daily basis according to guidelines provided by Rocket Farms Inc. Maintenance Department.
  • Properly manage machine during working shift and communicate with supervisor/lead when machinery needs maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean working area on a daily basis, specifically soil and plant material must be disposed in an appropriate manner at end of shift each day.
  • Effectively supervise other employees assisting in machine process to ensure safe practices and quality/production standards are being met.
  • Work responsibly and safely at all times. Report unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Understand and comply with safety regulations at Rocket Farms Inc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals pertinent to machinery
  • 2+ years of experience working with equipment
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and verbal
  • Basic Math (addition, subtraction & division) required
  • Ability to work in various environment conditions such as but not limited to; warm, moist, wet areas, indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed, especially during peak seasons
  • Internal certification of proficiency required.
